Step 1: Place a half circle on a straight line for the hobo’s sack. Draw a heart-shaped body above it. Add a circle for the head. Use two short lines for the neck.
Step 2: Draw the ear as a backward question mark. Above it, join an oval to a square. Connect U-shapes for the forehead and J-shapes for the chin. Form the nose with an oval, J-shape, and U-shape. Add curved cheeks.
Turn over U-shapes for the eyes. Show the mouth as a curve and two lines. Draw curved shoulders. Use a U-shape and curve for the arm. Sketch a rounded triangle and oval for the hands.
Make a U-shaped leg. Shape one shoe like a kidney. Close a U-shape with a line for the other shoe. Curve a rectangle for the pants cuff.
Step 3: Draw comma-shaped eyebrows. Use curved arrows for eyelids and irises. Sketch curves in the ear and below the nostrils. Add a lip line. Define oval and curved fingers.
Outline the clothes with J-shapes and curves. Show the curved waistband. Use Y-shapes for the pants legs and a curved rectangle for the cuff. Draw the shoes with a curved rectangle and lines.
Show U-shaped and curved toes. Put a curved V-shape in the sack. Add a bow with a circle and rounded triangle and rectangle.
Step 4: Darken the hair with zigzags. Add two hairs with an M-shape. Form the cigar with a U-shape, curved rectangle, oval ash, and curved band.
Use curved triangles for the nails. Draw a hole in the pants with jagged lines; add a curled hair. Sketch a rectangular patch on the sack. Show stitches as lines.
Shape the bow with J-shapes and curves. Put lines in V-shapes to finish the knot. For the stick, draw a curved tube and a line at one end. Form a branch with downward curves and an oval.
Step 5: Darken the eyebrows, irises, and cigar band. Show the beard stubble as many tiny dots on the chin. Shade the cigar, stick, pants cuffs, and under the chin with short curved lines.
Also shade the shoes and shoe heels and inside the bow with short lines. Darken the patch slightly with longer lines. Place a squiggle in the elbow.
